Hi Folks,

We have completed updating the forum software to the latest level. I apologize if you came to the site during the update, downtime was short and hopefully painless.

Thanks :)

I haven't had any downtime, but the pages sure have been slow loading since the server upgrade.  The RSS feed rarely loads on the first try, either.

Yes, I have processed a couple cleanup actions, and it should load better now. It also has to recache everything because all files were overwritten.

Spoke too soon.  Just came back and every page is taking 10-12 seconds to load. :(

I looked at the server specs after the upgrade and saw there was really no difference in the number if CPU's, or system ram. After digging a bit deeper, I found that we now have AMD CPU's instead of Intel.

It also looks like they went from 4-4core CPU's to 2-8core CPU's. This was the issue on the old hardware, 2 CPU's doesn't handle load balancing as well.. IMHO. Even though the number of cores is the same, I'm not sure the load balancing software they are using is being handled as well by the  2 AMD CPU's. I have opened a support topic.

Of course they don't see the loads spiking, but I think it's not actually in the server itself.. but the load balancing. I've tried to relay this to them, but they will need to know exactly when it is happening to figure it out.

I'll keep trying to press the issue and hopefully it will improve.

I'm only seeing a delay of maybe 3 to 4 seconds.

I haven't seen any lag at all since earlier today. The host has been running gtmetrix reports and they state it isn't a problem with the server and started tweaking .htaccess on other sites on my account which has created big problems. I've been busy trying to get them to put out those fires for now. I have to go to work in a few minutes, so I'll look again as soon as I can.

That's OK, Mark--- being retired gives me plenty of time to wait.  :roflmao:

It looks better today. They really screwed up a couple other sites, so I was glad that I pointed their attention away from here the last message I left in the support topic, or we'd be dealing with all kinds of screwed up login and read/unread topic issues.

I'm still getting messages on two other sites where people are having problems seeing new posts made yesterday.

Yes, same here. Seems as quick as immediately after the 'upgrade' to cheaper AMD CPU's.
